Bubble Tea has become a trend drink. This is how you make the refreshing tea with pearls yourself.
They were there, then gone again – and now the trend from Taiwan has apparently become a long-running hit in this country too:
Shops that sell teas with fun, colorful beads in them can be found in many cities, the Bubble Tea Shops.
If you can’t find one nearby, you can also prepare the cool tea with pearls at home,
advises the German Tea and Herbal Tea Association. For this you need tea bags, a little sugar and ice cubes
one thing in particular: tapioca pearls. The globules are obtained from the tuber of tropical cassava, a root
with high starch content. Cooking gives them their typical slippery, rubbery consistency. are available
the pearls, for example, in the Asian market and sometimes also in other supermarkets. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here,
can also replace the tapioca pearls with pearled starch. As a recipe for bubble tea beginners
the tea association recommends a turmeric bubble tea.
How to make it:
Ingredients for two glasses of tea: 4 tea bags of turmeric tea mixture, 250 ml water, 250 g ice cubes, two slices of lime,
20 g ginger slices, the pulp of a passion fruit, 50 g tapioca pearls or alternatively
40 g of pearled starch, a pinch of sugar and sweetener to taste.

Preparation: 1. Pour boiling water over the tea and let it steep for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, place the ice cubes in a large bowl.

2. Strain the tea onto the ice cubes so that it cools immediately and all the ice cubes melt.
3. Add the lime and ginger slices and let the tea steep in the fridge for two hours.
4. Meanwhile, prepare the tapioca pearls or the pearled starch in water according to the package instructions.
Then drain in a colander and place in a bowl. Sprinkle with a pinch of sugar.
This prevents the beads from sticking together. 5. Before serving, the lime and ginger slices
remove from the tea and set aside. Now add the fresh pulp of the passion fruit,
Mix well and sweeten to your taste. 6. Put the tapioca pearls or pearled starch in a glass,
Add the ice cubes, pour in the tea brew and garnish with the lime and ginger slices that have been set aside.
You drink bubble tea with a thick straw.

Caution: Small children can choke on the balls. The tea is not suitable for them.
